Sep 18 Court of Appeal judgment - here - took 5 months to be handed down .... many references to my anti-drug campaign. But by 2-1 the judges are limiting future campaign discounts to 3 months which, as the "1" judge says, is not meaningful. Maybe there will be an application to the Court of Final Appeal?

Leviticus 8-10: Moses followed God's instructions
and ordained Aaron and his sons as priests.
Moses washed them, put special clothing on them,
anointed their heads with chrism
and offered a special animal sacrifice on their behalf.
Then Aaron lifted up his hands towards the people
and blessed them.
A flame from the Lord consumed the offering on the altar.
The people shouted for joy and fell on their knees.
But later on when two of Aaron's sons offered unauthorized fire,
a fire from the Lord consumed them.
Moses then said:
"God expects the highest standard from priests".
Dear God, please bless and
protect all priests

Psalms
20-21: May the Lord protect and help you,
may he give you your heart's desire
and fulfil every one of your plans. Some trust in chariots or horses,
but we trust in the Lord.
Lord, may our plans and hopes
be acceptable to you.
Please bless our plans

Philippians
3.7-11:
Because of Christ, I have come to consider
all my former advantages as a scholar as disadvantages. Nothing is more important than knowing Christ
Jesus my Lord. For him I have accepted the loss of
everything, and I look on everything as so much rubbish if only I can have
Christ. All I want is to know Christ and the power of
his resurrection.
I want to share his sufferings by carrying the Cross with him. This is the way I can hope to receive eternal
life.
Christ Jesus my Lord, knowing you is No. 1

Matthew
4.1-11: After he was baptized, Jesus spent about 40 days praying and fasting in the
desert.
During this time, he was tempted by Satan.
"If you are the Son of God,
change some stones into bread" said Satan. Jesus replied "Human life needs more than
bread.
Life needs God's message". Satan then took Jesus to a high place
and said
"Throw yourself down, since the angels will protect you". Jesus replied
"Presumption is a sin". Then Satan took Jesus to a high mountain
and showed him all the nations of the world. "Worship me and I will give you all these
nations" said Satan. Jesus replied
"Go away, Satan! Only God is to be worshipped". The devil then went away.
Jesus, please protect us from
Satan and from evil

Pope Francis - The
Joy of the Gospel No. 6:
There are Christians
whose lives seem like Lent without Easter. I realize of course that joy
is not expressed the same way at all times in life, especially at moments of
great difficulty. I understand the grief of people who have to endure great
suffering, yet slowly but surely we all have to let the joy of faith slowly
revive as a quiet yet firm trust, even amid the greatest distress: "My soul
is bereft of peace; I have forgotten what happiness is. But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope: the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his
mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning. Great is your
faithfulness" (Lam 3)

19:
(sun + law = the "sun-in-law"
psalm)
The heavens proclaim the glory of God,
the starry skies are the work of his hands. The stars can't speak, but they are
God's handwriting.
The sun is God's love shining on the whole world. The universe is a masterpiece, and so is God's
law
which shines in our hearts. The precepts of the Lord
enlighten our lives
each day.
The law of the Lord gives joy and wisdom to our hearts. The decrees of the Lord are to be desired more

Matthew
3.1-17: About 30 years after
Jesus was born,
a man began preaching repentance,
and baptizing people in the river Jordan. This man was John the
Baptist.
His message was
"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is close at hand". John fulfilled the
prophecy:
"A voice cries in the wilderness: prepare a way for the Lord". John said "I
baptize you with water,
but one is coming who will baptize you with the Holy Spirit".
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.
After Jesus was baptized, the heavens opened,
and Jesus saw the Spirit of God coming down on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven
said
"This is my Son, the Beloved.
My favor rests on him".
Jesus,
please help me to prepare your way, like John the Baptist

To go with opening of new train station in HK today: Three lawyers and three engineers are traveling by train to a conference. At the station, the three lawyers each buy tickets and watch as the three engineers buy only a single ticket. "How are three people going to travel on only one ticket?" asks a lawyer. "Watch and you'll see," answers an engineer. They all board the train. The lawyers take their respective seats but all three engineers cram into a restroom and close the door behind them. Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. He knocks on the restroom door and says, "Ticket, please." The door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes it and moves on. The lawyers see this and agree that it is quite a clever idea so, after the conference, they decide to copy the engineers on the return trip and save some money (recognizing the engineers' superior intellect). When they get to the station, they buy a single ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment, the engineers don't buy a ticket at all. "How are you going to travel without a ticket?" says one perplexed lawyer. "Watch and you'll see," answers an engineer. When they board the train the three lawyers cram into a restroom and the three engineers cram into another one nearby. The train departs. Shortly afterward, one of the engineers leaves his restroom and walks over to the restroom where the lawyers are hiding. He knocks on the door and says, "Ticket, please."

Whenever our interior life becomes caught up in its own interests
and concerns, there is no longer room for others, no place for the poor. God's
voice is no longer heard, the quiet joy of his love is no longer felt, and the
desire to do good fades. This is a very real danger for believers too. Many fall
prey to it, and end up resentful, angry and listless.

Matthew
2.1-12: Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem,
during the reign of King Herod. Some months after Jesus' birth,
several wise men from the East came to Jerusalem. They said "Where is the infant king
of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose and we have come to offer him honor."
King Herod felt threatened by this news.
He knew from the Scriptures that the promised Saviour would be born
in Bethlehem. So Herod sent the wise men to Bethlehem,
pretending that he too would like to offer honor to the child. The wise men headed for Bethlehem, guided by
the star.
The star filled them with joy.
The star stopped over the place where the child was. The wise men fell to their knees and honored
the child.
They offered him gifts of gold, incense and myrrh. Then they returned to their own country by a
different way,
having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod.

1.18-25: This is how Jesus came to be born.
His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph. But before they lived
together,
Mary became pregnant by the power of the Holy
Spirit. An angel appeared
to Joseph in a dream
and said "Joseph,
descendant of David,
do not be afraid to live with Mary as your wife".
Her baby has been conceived by the power of the Holy
Spirit.
She will give birth to a son.
You must name him 'Jesus'
('God saves')
because he will save his people from their sins." Joseph took Mary
to his home as his wife.
She gave birth to a son, Jesus.
Dear
Jesus, Son of God, son of Mary, step-son of Joseph,
please help me understand how you are the Saviour of the world

Reflection on the above readings: From God Calling, Sep 13: Use My Name often. Think of the unending call of "Mother" made by her children. To help, to care, to decide, to appeal, "Mother." Use My Name in that same way - simply, naturally, forcefully. "Jesus." Use it not only when you need help but to express Love. Uttered aloud, or in the silence of your hearts, it will alter an atmosphere from one of discord to one of Love. It will raise the standard of talk and thought. "Jesus."

Yesterday at Lai Chi Kok men's prison I learnt from a Macau inmate that one of Macau's main Triads is called Shui Fong, and Wikipedia just informed me that Shui Fong is also called Wo On Lok and is part of the "Wo" family of triads whose territory includes Yau Ma Tei ... which is where I live!

Frightening YouTube reports: LGBT radical impact on educational institutions (No. 5); LGBT infiltrating churches (No. 6); US corporations massively supporting LGBT agenda (No. 7). What has happened in the US is now starting to happen in other places. Some day our children will ask "why didn't you do more to stop this evil?"
