Readings
for Feast of St Stephen
The first reading:
How Stephen forgave the men who killing him
Responsorial Psalm: Stephen
used the same psalm as Jesus to entrust his life to the Father
Gospel: Jesus' special words for people in Stephen's situation
Reflection:
One of the fruits of Christmas is
forgiveness: people make an extra effort to "bury the hatchet", even
nations make an effort to work for peace. Stephen understood the Christmas
message. He understood that forgiveness is basic to Chrisianity.
Prayer: Jesus,
many times you spoke about forgiveness. On the Cross you forgave those killing
you.
Stephen understood your message of forgiveness. Please give me a forgiving heart
