Readings for the Fifth Day in Octave of Christmas

The first reading:   There can be no compromise between "light" and "darkness"

Responsorial Psalm:  Continues the theme of Christmas joy and praise

Gospel:  The story of the old man Simeon - he knows who Mary's baby is

Reflection:
Simeon was happy that before he died he saw the Saviour.
Most people in our world die without knowing Jesus.
c.f. some people adopted as babies never know their real parents

Prayer: Jesus, may all the people of the world know you before they die!
