O Holy Spirit, please guide me as I read these passages for today.                     
May these passages give me hope, strength, wisdom, compassion, courage and peace for my daily life     Chinese text

Reading:  The Song of Songs 3-4

The groom:
How beautiful you are, my love.
You are wholly beautiful, my love,
and without blemish.

Reflection:
God is the groom. Each person is the bride.
God says we are beautiful.
Who cares what anyone else says?!

Prayer: Lord, please help me understand how much you love me

O give thanks to the Lord for he is good,
for his great love is without end.

It was his wisdom which made the skies,
for his great love is without end.

It was he who made the sun, moon and stars,
for his great love is without end.

It was he who rescued and protected his people Israel,
for his great love is without end.

He gives food to all living things,
for his great love is without end.

To the God of heaven give thanks,
for his great love is without end.

Reflection:
People who have near death experiences speak about coming into the presence of an overpowering source of love that totally blows their minds when they realise how much they are loved

Prayer: We praise you, Lord, for your great love is without end

During these days, Peter spoke to a group of about 120 disciples:
"As you know, Judas hanged himself after betraying Jesus. 
We must now choose someone to take Judas' place, 
someone who has been with us since the time when John was baptizing"

Two men were nominated, Joseph and Matthias. After prayer was offered, Matthias was chosen. 
He was listed as one of the 12 apostles

Reflection:
A group of about 120 disciples....just like the 117 cardinals meeting soon to choose a new pope.
May the cardinals, in their deliberations, be as aware of God's presence as Peter and the 120 were.
And see how Egypt's Coptic Christians choose their pope...by a method like the one above
...nominating three names then getting a blind boy to choose one name from a glass bowl

Prayer:  Jesus, please help the cardinals to be continually aware of your presence during the conclave

Jesus said to the crowds:

When you do a bit of fasting,
don't run round telling the world what you are doing.
Secret fasting is spiritually powerful.

Your most  important account  is with the Bank of Heaven.
Build up your deposit with lots of good deeds and prayers.

Physical blindness is a great tragedy.
Greater still is spiritual blindness.

God must be Number One in your life.
Don't let money or anything else replace God.

Reflection:    
If my job or my family or my study or anything else is No. 1 in my life, everything else will suffer.
e.g. If my job is No. 1, my family, my health etc will suffer.
But if God is No. 1, everything else will benefit: my family, my health, my job, my study, my everything!

 Prayer: Jesus, please be Number One in my life
