O Holy Spirit, please guide me as I read these passages for today.                     
May these passages give me hope, strength, wisdom, compassion, courage and peace for my daily life     Chinese text

Reading:  Isaiah 54, 55

Though the mountains may fall and the hills turn to dust,
the love of the Lord will never cease.

O come to the water, all you are thirsty,
though you have no money, come.

Why spend your money on what is useless,
your wages on what fails to satisfy?

Seek the Lord while he is to be found.
Call to him while he is near.

Reflection: 
A beautiful song: Though the mountains may fall, and the hills turn to dust

Prayer: Lord,  please help us give more time to things that are important
....and less time to things that are not so important.

O Lord, please bless the king,
that he might serve your people with justice.

May the mountains bring forth peace for the people
and the hills, justice.

The kings of Sheba and Seba bring him gifts.
All nations will serve him.

He will save the poor when they cry for help
and the needy who are helpless.

He will have pity on the weak
and save the lives of the poor.

May every tribe be blessed in him.
May every nation bless his name.

Reflection: 
A king, a leader, who cares for the poor, the needy and the weak.
Pope Francis is such a leader. May all leaders, especially Christian leaders, be likewise

Prayer: Lord, may all leaders care for the poor, the needy and the weak

In the city of Troas Paul and his group joined the local believers for the Breaking of Bread one Saturday night

Paul's sermon went on till the middle of the night. As Paul went on and on, a young man who was sitting on the window-sill, went to sleep and fell to the ground three floors below

He was dead when they picked him up. Paul went down to the boy and prayed over him. The boy came back to life.

Paul kept on talking till dawn. That same day he left Troas

Reflection:
I know of two young men who died recently....funeral services are today and tomorrow
...and I think:

Prayer: Jesus, is it ok if I pray that a young person who has died will come back to life?

Jesus said to his disciples:
When I come in glory at the end of the world,
all peoples of all times will be gathered in front of me.

I will separate them, like a shepherd separates sheep from goats.
I will place the sheep on my right, the goats on my left.

I will say to those on my right "Come and enter my kingdom.
For I was hungry, and you gave me food.
I was thirsty, and you gave me drink.
I was a stranger, and you made me welcome.
I was naked, and you clothed me.
I was sick, and you visited me.
I was in prison, and you came to see me".

Then those good people on my right will say
"Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you?
When did we see you thirsty and give you a drink?
When did we see you a stranger and welcome you,
naked and clothe you, sick or in prison, and visit you?"

I will answer
"Each time  you helped and cared for a poor person,
you helped and cared for me".

Then I will say to those on my left
"Go away from me and join Satan and his angels in hell.

For I was hungry, and you never gave me food.
I was thirsty, and you never gave me anything to drink.
I was a stranger, and you never made me welcome,
naked, and you never clothed me,
sick and in prison, and you never visited me".

Those on my left will then ask
"Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or naked,
sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?"

I will answer
"Each time you refused to help and care for a poor person,
you refused to help and care for me".

Those on the left will then go to eternal punishment.
Those on the right will go to eternal life.

Reflection: 
A person not baptized with water, but who is kind and compassionate (and is thereby baptized in the heart - "baptism by desire") will go to "eternal life".
A water-baptized Christian who is not kind and compassionate will go to "eternal punishment"

Prayer: Jesus, please help me do more for poor people.
Make me understand that when I help a poor person, I help you
