May 14, 2013
In this week before Pentecost, let's use the daily Mass readings, focusing on the Holy Spirit
Readings for the Feast of Saint Matthias
Reflection:
When the 12 apostles were chosen by Jesus, Matthias wasn't
on the list. He must have felt sad.
But he didn't go away unhappy. He kept on following Jesus as one of the
disciples.
When many disciples "stopped walking with Jesus" because they couldn't
accept Jesus' teaching about his body and blood,
Matthias didn't go away. He kept on following Jesus ...in faith and trust.
Matthias is a great example for us to keep following Jesus....even in difficult
times (..like the present time of sex abuse inquiries...)
Prayer: Dear
Jesus, please give us a bit more of the faith and trust and loyalty of Matthias,
especially in difficult times
