Readings for the Feast of Saint Ignatius of Loyola
1st
Reading - has words of Ignatius' motto: Do all for the glory of God
(AMDG... “Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam” or as we learnt in English at
school - ...all my doings
for God)
Responsorial Psalm: Same idea as 1st reading - praise the Lord at all times
Gospel: "hating
Father, mother" ...poor translation.
Better "total detachment from father,
mother"...which means in practice:
God first, everyone/everyone else 2nd.
In fact of course, if God is first, our love for parents will be stronger, not
weaker!
