  Reading:  Genesis 9-11   

Noah's descendants spread to many lands.
They started speaking new languages.
They discovered how to make bricks.

In one place, Babel,  they tried to build a very high tower.
But God was not pleased with them.
God scattered the people of Babel to many places

Reflection - Pope Francis 2013-06-16:
People dream of building a new “Tower of Babel”, a city of man that is without God. They believe that the rejection of God, the message of Christ, the Gospel of Life, will somehow lead to freedom, to complete human fulfillment

Prayer: Dear God, please help the human family not forget you, our Creator

Reading: Psalms 140-143

Lord, save me from people who do evil,
you who do justice for the needy.

I have no way out of this situation.
And no one wants to help me.

Lord, I beg you tonight to make haste and give me an answer,
for my spirit fails within me.

In the morning let me know your love
for I put my trust in you.

Reflection:
The bigger our problems, the more we need to trust God 
(..as well as do everything we can/should do from a human point of view).
Easier said than done.
Easy to trust God when life is going smoothly.
Not so easy to trust God when we are in big trouble.
But we must try

Prayer: Lord, please help people who are in big trouble....to increase their trust in you

Reading:  1 Corinthians 11

Concerning the Lord's Supper, this is what I received from the Lord and then taught you:

On the night he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread, broke it and said
"This is my body which will be broken for you"

After supper he took a cup and said "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. 
Each time you drink this cup, drink it in memory of me"

Until the Lord comes, therefore, each time you eat this bread and drink this cup,
you re-enact the death of the Lord

Reflection: 
The Lord's Supper, the Eucharist, is the source and summit of our Christian faith

Prayer: Jesus, may my whole life orbit around you in the Eucharist

Reading: Mark 12

Jesus told the people to beware of religious leaders
- who like to walk about in long ostentatious robes
- who like to be greeted obsequiously in the market places
- who like to take the places of honor at prayer halls and banquets
- who steal the property of widows, while making a show of lengthy prayers

Reflection:
May religious leaders follow the example of Pope Francis ....
and dress and live more simply
