  Reading:  Exodus 16 

As the Israelites traveled through the desert
they began to complain about not having enough food.

So God rained down bread, manna, from heaven
in the form of a coating of dew
which appeared on the ground each morning,
as well as flocks of quails which came every evening.

For forty years the Israelites ate manna and quails,
bread and birds.

Reflection:
"Bed & Breakfast" ...B & B ..."Bread and Birds".
Main point: even in the desert, God provided food

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the food we have each day

Reading: Psalm 71

In you, O Lord, I take refuge.
Please hear me and help me.

Be a rock where I can take refuge.
Rescue me from people who want to hurt me.

It is you, O Lord, who are my hope.
In you I have trusted since I was young.

From my mother's womb you have been my help.
My hope has always been in you.

Now that I am old, please do not forget me.
Now that my strength fails, do not abandon me.

Now that I am old and grey-headed,
may I continue to trust in you and proclaim your help.

To you I will sing with the harp.
All day long my tongue will tell of your goodness to me.

Reflection: 
Looking back on God's goodness to us right through our lives
gives us hope and trust for the future

Prayer: Lord, may all elderly people put their trust and hope in you

Reading:  Ephesians 6 

Pray all the time, asking for what you need.
Pray in the Spirit on every possible occasion.

Never tire of praying.
Pray for me that I may proclaim the Good News boldly

Grace and eternal life to everyone who loves our Lord Jesus Christ

Reflection:
A recent seminar on prayer in Hong Kong heard a talk by a famous Benedictine priest who at one stage said something like " one way of praying all the time is to become aware of God's presence all the time".  To make that more concrete for most of us, Joseph Girzone would say "awareness of Jesus' presence"

Prayer: Jesus, please help me be more aware of your presence through the day

Reading:  Luke 6

In his teaching, Jesus said "Why do you notice the splinter in someone else's eye, but don't notice the plank in your own eye?  Deal with your own faults before you start correcting other people

A good tree does not produce bad fruit. A bad tree does not produce good fruit. The fruit tells you what sort of tree it came from

So with people: their words and actions tell you what their heart is like - good or bad

Reflection:
The older we grow....and the more aware of our own faults...the less we should be inclined to judge others. And this is in fact a common experience: younger people are hastier than older people to judge others. Older people are more aware of the complexities of life

Prayer: Jesus, please help me be a good person, producing good fruit
