  Reading:  Numbers 19

God's words to Moses:
"Burn a red heifer and mix its ashes with water
to make holy water
for special blessings in cases of uncleanness."

Reflection:
Holy water

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for holy water. May it protect and cleanse us

Reading: Psalm 124

"If the Lord had not been on our side",
this is Israel's song.

If the Lord had not been on our side
when people rose against us,

then would they have swallowed us alive
when they were angry with us.

Blessed be the Lord who did not let us become
a prey for their teeth.

Our life, like a bird, has escaped
from the snare of the hunter.

Indeed the snare has been broken
and we have escaped.

Our help is in the name of the Lord
who made heaven and earth.

Reflection:
Jesus helps us escape: from sorrow, from worry, from guilt, from anxiety, from sickness...and from death

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for all the times you have rescued me from trouble

Reading:  1 Timothy 5

Never accept an accusation brought against a church elder unless it is supported by two or three witnesses. If an elder is at fault, reprimand him publicly as a warning to others

Be fair to everyone and never be influenced by favoritism

As regards your frequent illnesses, I suggest you give up drinking only water, and have a little wine for the sake of your digestion

Reflection:
How many times has criticism of someone turned out to be false or a misunderstand?

Prayer: Jesus, help church workers to be fair and impartial

Reading:  Luke 19

As Jesus caught sight of Jerusalem, he shed tears over it and said "How I wish you had accepted my message of peace. You will be totally destroyed, because you rejected God's offer of grace"

Jesus then went into the Temple and drove out the sellers. According to the Scripture", he said, "my house will be a house of prayer. But you have turned it into a robbers' den"

Each day Jesus taught in the Temple. The leaders wanted to do away with him, but they didn't know how to, since most of the ordinary  people had great respect for Jesus

Reflection:
The sadness of parents when children "go astray".
The sadness of teachers when students fail to reach their potential.
The sadness of Jesus when his message of peace, his offer of grace, is rejected

Prayer: Jesus, please don't let me ever reject your friendship
