Reading: Luke 22 The men who arrested Jesus took him to the home of the main religious leader. Peter followed at a distance As Peter sat by a fire in the courtyard, a servant-girl said "This man was with Jesus". Peter replied "Woman I do not know him" A little while later, another person said "You are one of them". Peter replied "I am not" About an hour later, a man said "He was certainly with them. He is from Galilee". Peter replied "I do not know what you are talking about" While he was still speaking, a rooster crowed, and the Lord looked straight at Peter, and Peter remembered what the Lord had said, "Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times" Peter went outside and cried bitterly Reflection: |
