  Reading:  Deuteronomy 7

Moses continued his speech to the people:

"You are a people consecrated to the Lord your God.
It is you that the Lord our God has chosen
to be his very own people out of all the peoples on the earth.

But know this:
if the Lord set his heart on you and chose you,
it was not because you outnumbered other peoples.
In fact you were the least of all peoples.

It was for love of you and to keep his promise to our ancestors
that the Lord chose you.

Listen then to these ordinances, be true to them and observe them, and in return the Lord your God will be true to you.

He will love you and bless you and increase your numbers.
He will bless the fruit of your body and the produce of your soil,
your corn, your wine, your oil, the issue of your cattle,
the young of your flock.

No man or woman among will shall be barren,
no male or female of your beasts infertile.

The Lord will keep all sickness far from you.

Be loyal then to the Lord
and have nothing to do with the religious practices
of the people you will conquer
."

Reflection:
These words remind me of the beautiful song Sound the Bugle in the movie Spirit which has the words "Remember who you are"

Prayer:
Dear God, please help us remember who we are:  how our life comes from you, how you love us.

Reading: Psalm  144

Blessed be the Lord, my rock,
who gives me strength for every situation.

He is my love, my fortress.
He is my stronghold, my savior.

To you, O God, will I sing a new song,
you who so often rescued David your servant.

Blessed the people whose God is the Lord.
Please continue to bless your people, Lord.

Let our sons flourish like saplings
grown tall and strong from their youth;

our daughters graceful as columns,
adorned as though for a palace.

Let our crops and stock be blessed.
May there be no sound of weeping on our streets.

Reflection:
A person who loves God is wise.
A
nation which loves God is wise!
..."Blessed the people whose God is the Lord"

Prayer: Lord, please help me, please help our nation, to be good and wise

Reading:  Titus 2

God's grace has made salvation available for the whole human race.
We must give up everything that does not lead to God

We must delete our worldly ambitions. We must be self-restrained and live good lives here in this present world, while we wait in hope for the blessings that will come with the Coming of the glory of our God and savior Christ Jesus

He sacrificed himself for us in order to set us free from wickedness, and to purify us so that we would have no ambition except to do good

Reflection:
An Opening Prayer at Mass has the words "help us reject anything contrary to the Gospel"

Prayer:  Jesus, please help me give up everything that does not lead to you

Reading:  Luke 23

One of the criminals hanging on a cross mockingly said to  Jesus
"Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us as well"

But the other criminal rebuked the first one and said "We are paying the penalty for our crimes. But this man has done nothing wrong"

"Jesus", he said, "remember me when you come into your kingdom"

Jesus replied "I promise you, this day you will be with me in Paradise"

Reflection & Prayer:
YouTube: Jesus, remember me, when you come into your kingdom
