  Reading:  Deuteronomy 11

Moses continued his teaching:

"Be faithful in keeping all the instructions that I give you,
so that you and your children after you may be happy,
always doing what is good and right
in the eyes of the Lord your God.

If anyone, even someone from your own family,
tries to get you to worship a false god,
have nothing to do with that person.
That person must be punished
."

Reflection:
The influence of parents and older brothers/sisters is crucial.
May that influence be a good influence

Prayer:
Dear God, please don't let anyone influence me away from your values

Reading: Psalms 149-150

Sing a new song to the Lord.
Let the praise of God be always on our lips.

Praise God in his holy temple.
Praise him in the heavens.

O praise him with sound of trumpet.
Praise him with lute and harp.

Praise him with drums and dancing.
Praise him with strings and pipes.

Let everything that lives and breathes,
give praise to the Lord our Creator.  Alleluia!

Reflection:
Sometimes in a big church they have not only an organ, but also drums, trumpets and other instruments ...and the effect is just mind-blowing...and takes the praise in our hearts to a higher level

Prayer: Lord, may there often be more musical instruments in church to help us praise you

Reading:  Hebrews 1

At various times in the past and in various different ways, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets

But in our own time, he has spoken to us through his Son,
through whom he made everything.
He is the radiant light of God the Father's glory

He has sacrificed himself for sinners.
He has taken his place at the right hand of the Father.
He is far greater than any angel

Reflection:
The more we understand the immensity of the universe with its billions of galaxies and stars, the more we fall down in awe before the Baby in the manager through whom everything was made

Prayer:
Jesus, please deepen my understanding of who you are

Reading:  Luke 24

The disciples were still talking about what had happened when suddenly Jesus himself stood among them. At first they were terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost

But he said "Look at my hands and feet. Yes, it is I indeed. Touch me and see for yourselves. A ghost has no flesh and bones as you can see I have"

Their fear turned to joy but they still couldn't believe what they were seeing. So he asked them for something to eat, and they gave him some grilled fish which he ate in front of them

Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and he said "So you see how it is written that the Christ would suffer, and on the third day rise from the dead. And that in his name repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be preached to all the nations

Soon I will send down to you what the Father promised (the Holy Spirit).  Stay in Jerusalem until you are clothed with this power from on high"

Reflection:
As in the reading from Hebrews, above, so too here we have the same story: getting our minds and hearts to understand and accept  who Jesus is and what he has done

Prayer: Jesus,  increase my faith in your resurrection, and open my mind to  understand the Bible better
