O Holy Spirit, may these passages give us hope, wisdom, compassion, courage and peace for our daily life           Chinese text

  Reading:  Deuteronomy 33-34

Before Moses died, he blessed  the twelve tribes of Israel.

Moses then went up Mount Nebo, opposite Jericho,
where the Lord showed him the whole land
that the Israelites would possess.

Moses was buried in the land of Moab.

After the people mourned Moses for 30 days,
Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom,
since Moses had laid his hands on him.

From that time there has never been a prophet like Moses,
the man who knew the Lord face to face.

Reflection:
Scholars argue about what Moses was really like and what his actual words and deeds were, but they also agree that some sort of unforgettable character must have existed as a sub-strata for overlaid material, and that character had an immense love for God and his people

Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for the life of Moses.   May civic and church leaders be more like him,  filled with love for you and for the people

Reading: Psalm 16

Please protect me, Lord, I take refuge in you.
You are the only source of all true happiness.

I bless you, Lord, who guide and lead me.
Even at night you direct my heart.

And so my heart rejoices, my soul is glad.
My body shall rest in safety now and always.

You will show me the path of life,
the fullness of joy in your presence,
at your right hand, happiness for ever.

Reflection:
The Near Death Experience books all try to describe (... emphasis on "try"..),
the indescribable joy of Heaven..."the fullness of joy in your presence'

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for the little joys you give us each day
....and the big joy you've prepared for us in Heaven

Reading:  Hebrews 13

Jesus Christ is the same today as he was yesterday
and as he will be for ever

Do not let yourselves be led astray by strange doctrines
 that teach a different Jesus

Jesus died outside the city. Let us go to him and share his rejection.

Our life in this world is a temporary arrangement, like a tent. We look for a permanent home in the life to come

Keep doing good works and sharing your resources

Reflection:
Pope Francis is encouraging Christians to "go out", to find Jesus "outside the city" in the poor

Prayer:  Jesus, please help me "go out" to you in the poor a bit more this year

Reading:  John 4

Jesus said to his disciples "My food is to do the will of the one who sent me, and to complete his work

Look around, look at the fields. They are ready for harvest"

Reflection:
Our world's greatest need: to know and love God

Prayer:  Jesus, please encourage more people to be Gospel workers, harvesting souls for eternal life
