Reading:  One Samuel 20-24

Jonathan again tried to help David make peace with Saul.
But Saul was full of anger and just wanted to kill David.

David then became a nomad, roaming from place to place,
continually pursued by Saul's soldiers.

David once had a chance to kill Saul
but David refused to kill him.

David said: "Saul is the anointed one of the Lord.
It is wrong for me to hurt him."

Even though Saul hated and hunted David,
David respected and protected Saul.

Reflection:
People were out to kill David, so David roamed in nomadic places.
People were out to kill Jesus, David's descendant, so he had to stay in remote places.

Prayer:  Dear God, when other people treat me unkindly,
please help me to be kind to them, as David was kind to Saul

Reading:  Psalm 96

O sing a new song to the Lord.
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
O sing to the Lord, bless his name.

Proclaim his help day by day.
Tell among the nations his glory,
and his wonders among all the peoples.

It was the Lord who made the heavens.
Give the Lord, you families of peoples,
give the Lord glory and honor.

Bring an offering and enter his temple.
Worship the Lord in his sacred place.

Let the heavens rejoice and earth be glad.
Let the sea and all within it thunder praise.

Let the land and all it bears rejoice,
all the trees of the forest shout for joy.

Everyone and everything,
give the Lord glory and honor.

Reflection:
We praise and admire artists/writers/poets/musicians for their beautiful work.
How much more we should admire and praise the Artist of heaven and earth ... and of ourselves

Prayer: Lord, you are our Creator. We love and praise you

Reading:  Revelation 3

He gave me this message for the church in Laodicea:

"You are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were one or the other.
But since you are
lukewarm, you are cutting yourself off from me

You are rich in this word's goods, but you are spiritually poor

Listen to this message and repent"

Reflection:
Other words for
lukewarm: (from this link)
indifferent, cool, half-hearted, apathetic, unenthusiastic, tepid, uninterested, unconcerned, offhand, lackadaisical, perfunctory, phlegmatic, impassive, dispassionate, emotionless, passionless, limp, non-committal, unresponsive, unmoved

Prayer: Jesus, please don't let me become a lukewarm Christian

Reading:  Matthew 6

Jesus said to the crowds:

When you do a bit of fasting,
don't run round telling the world what you are doing.
Secret fasting is spiritually powerful.

Your most  important account  is with the Bank of Heaven.
Build up your deposit with lots of good deeds and prayers.

Physical blindness is a great tragedy.
Greater still is spiritual blindness.

God must be number one in your life.
Don't let money or anything else replace God.

Reflection:
These four bits of advice are a goldmine of practical wisdom for our lives

Prayer:
Jesus, please help me put the above words into practice
