Reading:  Two Samuel 1

When David heard that Saul and Jonathan had died,
David was very sad.

David was then anointed as king over the house of Judah,
but Ishbaal became king of the rest of Israel.

War broke out between the House of David (Judah)
and the House of Saul (Israel).

Gradually the House of David grew stronger
and the House of Saul grew weaker.

Reflection:
A divided kingdom (usually) is not healed overnight.
A divided family (usually) is not healed overnight.
A divided church (usually) is not healed overnight

Prayer:
Dear God, please restore unity to our divided world

Reading:  Psalm 98

Sing a new song to the Lord for he has worked wonders.
His right hand has brought salvation.

The Lord has made known his salvation.
He has shown his justice to the nations.

He has remembered his truth and love
for the house of Israel.

All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Shout to the Lord all the earth, ring out your joy.

Sing psalms to the Lord with the harp,
with the sound of music.

Let the sea, the world and all peoples
acclaim the King, the Lord.

Let the rivers clap their hands
and the hills ring out their joy

at the presence of the Lord,
for he comes to rule the earth.

He will rule the world with justice
and the peoples with fairness.

Reflection:
God loves all peoples in all nations, just like parents love all their children.
All peoples/nations should love God, just like all children should love their parents

Prayer: Lord, may all peoples in all countries know your love and goodness

Reading:  Revelation 5

I saw a sealed scroll that no one could open.
Then I saw a
Lamb, which seemed to have been sacrificed

The Lamb took the scroll, and the 24 elders sang a new song:

"You are worthy to take the scroll
and break its seals
because you were sacrificed, and by your blood
you ransomed us for God
out of every race, language, people and nation"

Reflection:
A most interesting Wikipedia article: The Lamb of God

Prayer: Jesus,  Lamb of God in heaven. We praise you Lord

Reading:  Matthew 7

Jesus said to the people:

Do not judge other people,
and God will not judge you.

It's so easy to be aware of other people's faults
yet be blind to your own faults.

Reflection:
Can anyone tell me the movie which has the line "the time to judge others is never"?
jdwomi@gmail.com

Prayer:
Jesus, please stop me from misjudging others
