Reading:  Two Samuel 4-5

After Ishbaal, son of Saul,  was murdered,
David became king of Israel as well as king of Judah.

David was 30 years old when he became king.
He reigned over Judah for 7 years.
Then he reigned over all Israel and Judah for 33 years.

David continued to fight against the Philistines.
God blessed David in all his campaigns.

Reflection:
David was no angel, yet God blessed him in all his campaigns.
David had his weaknesses, but his heart was in the right place, focused on God

Prayer:
Dear God, may my heart be focused on you

Reading:  Psalm 99

The Lord is king.  He is great in Sion.
His power is seen throughout the world.

Among his priests were Aaron, Moses and Samuel.
They prayed to the Lord and he answered their call.

Let peoples everywhere praise his name.
He is holy, full of power.

Reflection:
Some people say God does not "interfere" in the world.
But our own experience provides many examples of God's Providence and care in our lives
....so many "co-incidences" etc ..which is why we, like Aaron, Moses and Samuel, can pray...and God will answer our call

Prayer:  Lord, may all peoples know and love you ...and pray to you for help

Reading:  Revelation 5

I heard the sound of an immense number of angels gathered around God's throne. There were 10,000 times 10,000 of them, shouting:

"The Lamb that was sacrificed is worthy  to be given power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory and blessing"

I heard all living things in creation - angels, people, animals - crying out: "To the One sitting on the throne and to the Lamb, be all praise, honor, glory and power for ever and ever"

Reflection:
One of the most powerful experiences we can ever have is to be in a large gathering of people singing God's praise. A huge crowd loving and praising God. It is an overwhelming experience. I had one such special experience in 1982 in the underground basilica at Lourdes .... many thousands of people singing God's praise. It was really beautiful. A glimpse of Heaven as in the above reading

Prayer: "Thou are worthy, Thou art worthy, Thou are worthy O Lord,
to receive glory, glory and honor, glory and honor and power"

Reading:  Matthew 7

Jesus said to the people:

Persevere in prayer. Ask and you will receive.
Search and you will find.
Knock and the door will be opened.

You like to give good things to your children.
God likes to give good things to you.

Reflection:
Psalm 99 (above) says how God answered the prayers of Aaron, Moses and Samuel.
Today's Gospel has the same message: God's phone is never turned off

Prayer:
Jesus, please give me more faith in the power of prayer
