Reading:  Two Samuel 14-15

When David had finished his time of mourning for Amnon,
he allowed Absalom to return to Jerusalem.

Only after two years did David agree to meet Absalom.
He met him and pardoned him.

But as time went on Absalom started to plot against  David.
Absalom  gathered enough supporters to overthrow David.

David found out about the plot and fled from Jerusalem.

David was very sad and prayed to God
that someday he could return to Jerusalem.

Reflection:
In so many ways David pre-figured Jesus.  Jesus had Judas. David had Absalom

Prayer: Dear God, please help  people who are exiled from their homes

Reading:  Psalm 10

O give thanks to the Lord for he is good.
His great love is without end.

They are happy who do what is right,
who at all times remember what is just.

When our ancestors came out of Egypt,
they forgot the greatness of God's love.

Each time they strayed, God forgave them.
But still they continued to forget God who was their saviour,
God who had done such great things for them in Egypt.

Reflection:
Doing good makes us glad. Doing bad, makes us sad

Prayer:  O Lord, our God, please don't let us forget your love

Reading:  Revelation 15

Then I saw something great and wonderful: those who had fought against the beast and won, were singing the Song of the Lamb:

"Great and wonderful are all your works,
Lord God almighty.
Just and true are all your ways,
King of nations.
All nations will come and adore you"

Reflection:
The Number One animal in Heaven, the "top dog", so to speak, is not a lion or elephant .... but a Lamb

Prayer: Jesus, may all the nations of the earth adore you

Reading:  Matthew 9

One day when Jesus was walking past a customs house
he said to a tax collector  named Matthew "Follow me".
Matthew got up and followed Jesus.

Matthew invited Jesus and Jesus' friends to a dinner in his house.
Some tax collectors and  "bad" people sat at Jesus' table.

Religious leaders saw this and complained to Jesus' friends
"Why does your master eat with tax collectors and bad people?"

Jesus' answer was
"It is not the healthy who need the doctor, but the sick.

Go and think about the Bible words
'What I want is mercy, not sacrifice'.
I have a special concern for rejects and down-and-outs."

Reflection:
Pope Francis keeps asking us to mix with "rejects"

Prayer:
Jesus, please help religious leaders in today's world
to care more about people who are rejected by society
