June 14, 2012   Bishop Bill Morris and Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen
- compare their treatment by Joseph Ratzinger

One - a reader's comment to set the scene:

"Many years ago the CDF directed a visitation of Hunthausen’s archdiocese to investigate alleged ‘abnormalities’ in Canonical and pastoral practice. Hunthausen had also been under attack from various right wing characters for his staunch criticism of nuclear stockpiling. He had made a decision to withhold half of his personal income tax as a protest. He had also infuriated Reagan and supporters for his vigorous opposition to having a nuclear submarine base in his jurisdiction at Puget Sound. These submarines were equipped with Trident missiles, each one of them carrying multiple warheads (MIRVs). The fire power from that base alone could destroy the planet. Hunthausen became famous internationally for his description of the Trident as the Auschwitz of Puget Sound.
It seems that the ‘Visitation’ was not based solely on doctrinal or legal grounds. Hunthausen was the target of delation from a number of quarters. It is very informative to read para 2 when considering the lack of protection +Bill Morris got from the secretive ones in Toowoomba"
