Why am I in Hong Kong? I arrived in Hong Kong five years ago wondering why God wanted me to be here. Last year He made it clear: this was the way my mother would be able to open her heart to forgiveness. My parents were divorced 30 years ago. My dad remarried and my family and I were deeply hurt. I didn’t talk to my dad for seven years and even didn’t invite him to my wedding. It was one year after I married when I was finally able to get back in touch with him and renew our relationship through forgiveness, God showed me the way to do it. My dad regretted many things he did in the past and repented of what he did to his family. He wanted my mom’s forgiveness but at that time and for many years, my mother’s heart was hardened by hatred. For a long time my wish was to be able to see my parents together, maybe not as a couple but at least sitting at the same table for a meal. I almost lost my hope. But God had a plan.

Prison ministry: About three years ago I joined a prison ministry team and was deeply touched. I then met Father John and later joined him in his campaign to stop people getting tricked into bringing drugs to Hong Kong. Father John gave me copies of a booklet  with stories of forgiveness and how Jesus has healed prisoners in jail. The name of the booklet is Doctor Jesus; Father John is the author and the booklet has been translated into many languages.

I gave the Doctor Jesus booklet in Spanish to my mom last year in the summertime,  and her heart started to soften as she read the stories of forgiveness. Last Christmas the miracle happened…. I received a call from my dad and he said he had received the best Christmas gift ever: a call from my mom asking about his health. She even recommended he read Doctor Jesus . This was their first communication in 30 years.

My mom’s heart has really changed, she mentioned she felt it was easy for her to talk to my dad again. In July we had a big family reunion, all sitting at the same table, parents, children, grandchildren, all together for the first time.

I tell prisoners in jail that God is at work in jail and how through the stories in Doctor Jesus my mom was able to open her heart. The stories brought healing to my family.
Thank you Jesus! Thank you brothers in prison
