Leviticus 21 -23

God's words through Moses:

"Regard the priests as holy, for they offer holy sacrifice.

Keep the sacred festivals:
- every Sabbath
- the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread
- the First Sheaf
- the Feast of Weeks
- the first day of the seventh month
- the Day of Atonement
- the Feast of Tabernacles".

Dear God, thank you for special worship days and seasons

Psalm 119

They are happy who follow God's word,
those who seek God with all their hearts.

How can young people avoid evil?
By seeking you and obeying you, Lord.

Open my eyes, Lord,
that I may understand the beauty of your word.

Lord, when I'm worried or  in trouble,
your word revives me and gives me strength.

Lord, keep my eyes from what is false.
Bend my heart to your word and not to love of gain.

The word from your mouth means more to me
than silver and gold.

The unfolding of your word gives light
and teaches simple people.

Lord, thank you for your word which gives peace to our hearts

Romans 5

By faith and through Jesus we can live in the friendship of God

We look forward to heaven and an end to all suffering

In the meantime our suffering teaches us patience.
Patience produces perseverance. Perseverance produces hope

This hope is not imaginary. It's real, since the love of God
has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us

Jesus, through your Holy Spirit, please give me more hope

Mark 1

Jesus went to Galilee and proclaimed the Good News from God.
"The time has come" he said "and the kingdom of God is close at hand.
Repent, and believe the Good News."

As he was walking along by the sea of Galilee,
he saw two fishermen Simon and his brother Andrew.
Jesus said to them "Follow me and I will make you into fishers of men".
Simon and Andrew then followed Jesus.

Going a little further, Jesus saw two more fishermen James and his brother John.
He called them also to follow him.  They left their nets and boat and followed him.

Jesus, please bless all the people who work full time as "fishers of men"
