Joshua 1

God said to Joshua:

"I will be with you, as I was with Moses.
I will not leave you or abandon you.

Be strong and stand firm
and be careful to keep all the Law
which my servant Moses laid on you.

Never swerve from this to right or left,
and then you will be happy in all you do.

Have the book of this Law always on your lips.
Meditate on it day and night,
so that you may carefully keep
everything that is written in it.

Be fearless, be confident,
for wherever you go
I the Lord your God am with you."

Then Joshua said to the people:
"Get ready, for in 3 days you will cross the Jordan River
and take possession of the land
which God is giving to you."

Dear God,  thank you for the courage and confidence
that  you give us

Psalm 31

Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am in distress.
My eyes are full of tears, my heart full of sorrow.

Everyone makes fun of me. My friends don't want to know me.
Save me, Lord, from this mess.

I praise you Lord, for you protect those who trust you.
You keep them safe from slander and lies.

Be strong, let your heart take courage,
all you who  trust in the Lord

I trust in you, Lord. My life is in your hands

2 Corinthians 8, 9

Remember how generous the Lord Jesus was.
He was rich, but he became poor for our sake, to make us rich

So we also should help people who are poor.
If we have extra, we should help people who don't have enough

Maybe some day, the same poor people will be rich,
and we will be poor, and they will help us

And don't forget, God loves a cheerful giver

Jesus, help me do more to help poor people

Mark 14

On Passover Eve, Jesus ate a last meal with his apostles.
While they were eating, Jesus told them he knew he would be betrayed by one of them.
He told Judas he knew he was the betrayer.

Then Jesus took some bread, blessed it and gave it to his apostles saying
" This is my body"

Then he took a cup of wine, blessed it and gave it to them saying
"This is my blood"

Jesus, please help me understand
how bread and wine become your body and blood
 when Christians celebrate the Eucharist
