O Holy Spirit, please guide me as I read these passages for today. 
May these passages give me hope, strength, wisdom, courage and peace for my daily life 

Not long after he became king, Saul began doing things
that caused Samuel to stop supporting him.

Samuel clearly told Saul what the Lord wanted Saul to do,
but Saul insisted on doing things his own way.

Saul seemed more concerned about his own popularity
than about being obedient to the Lord.

This displeased the Lord and he rejected Saul

Dear God, please help  us not to disobey you.
"Your will be done".

Cry out with joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Serve the Lord with gladness.
Come before him, singing for joy.

Know that he, the Lord, is God.
He made us, we belong to him.
We are his people, the sheep of his flock.

Go within his gates, giving thanks.
Enter his temple with songs of praise.
Give thanks to him and bless his name.

Indeed, how good is the Lord,
eternal his merciful love.
He is faithful from age to age.

Dear Lord, please help us to serve you with gladness

I want you to be happy, always happy in the Lord.
Let you tolerance be evident to everyone

If there is anything you need, with prayer and thanksgiving ask God for it

Fill your minds with everything that is true, everything that is noble, 
everything that is good and pure, everything that is worthwhile. 
Then the God of peace will be with you

Jesus, please fill my mind with good things

In his teaching, Jesus said "Why do you call me 'Lord',
yet do not do what I ask you to do?

Anyone who comes to me and listens to my words and puts them into practice
is like a man who built his house on a solid foundation.
That house was so well built that even floods could not damage it

But anyone who listens and does not put my words into practice
is like a man who built his house without a foundation.
As soon as floods came, the house collapsed"

Jesus, please help me put your words into practice; help me apply them in my daily life
