O Holy Spirit, please guide me as I read these passages for today. 
May these passages give me hope, strength, wisdom, courage and peace for my daily life 

When David was living in exile,
some people helped him, some people insulted him.

To insult his father and to claim the kingship
Absalom publicly had sex with his father's concubines.

Gradually David was able to re-build his army
and his army defeated Absalom's soldiers in battle.

In that battle, Absalom died
and David mourned his death for a long time.

Eventually David was able to become king of all Israel again.

Dear God, may Israel be a land of peace

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.
His love has no end.

Let the sons of Israel say:
"His love has no end."

Let those who honor the Lord say:
"His love has no end."

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.

I was falling, falling, falling,
but the Lord was my helper.

The Lord is my strength and my song.
He is my saviour.

The Lord's right hand has triumphed.
His right hand has raised me up.

I shall not die, I shall live
and recount all his deeds.

The stone which the builders rejected
has become the corner stone.

This is the work of the Lord,
a marvel in our eyes.

This day was made by the Lord.
We rejoice and are glad.

Lord, we give thanks to you, for you are good.
 Your love has no end

As soon as you heard the Good News, 
you accepted it as God's message and not just some human thinking

This message is still a living power among you

For the sake of the Good News, you have been badly treated by your own countrymen,
just as Christians in Judea have been badly treated by the Jews

The Jews have been persecuting us and hindering us from spreading the Good News

Jesus, please help people who are being hindered from spreading the message of your love

Jesus appointed 72 disciples to go ahead of him in pairs,
to all the towns and places he himself was to visit

He said to them "The harvest is rich, but the laborers are few,
so ask the Lord of the harvest to send laborers to his harvest

When you go into a town, cure those in it who are sick, and say:
'The kingdom of God is very near to you' "
