One Kings 11

Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines.
Many of these women were foreigners.

As Solomon grew old, his foreign women
swayed his heart to allow the worship of foreign idols.

This displeased the Lord
and led to the breakup of Solomon's kingdom.

Solomon was king for 40 years and then died.

Dear God, please protect leaders from corruption

Psalm 127

If the Lord does not build the house,
in vain do its builders labor.

If the Lord does not watch over the city,
in vain does the watchman keep vigil.

Success comes not from earlier rising or from going later to rest,
but from the Lord's blessing.

Success is from the Lord
who blesses the womb of  his beloved while she sleeps.

Truly, children are a gift from the Lord,
a blessing, the fruit of the womb.

Lord, many people these days don't want children.
Please help such people understand that children are a blessing

2 Thessalonians 2

Regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
don't be deceived by wild speculation

Stand firm in your faith and avoid speculation

Keep the traditions we taught you, whether by word of mouth or by letter

May God strengthen you in everything good you do or say

Jesus, stop people spreading false information

Luke 12

Jesus told the people this story:
There was a rich man who, having had a good harvest from his land, thought to himself
"What am I to do? I don't have enough room to store my crops".

Then he said to himself "This is what I will do: I will pull down my barns and build bigger ones,
and store all my grain in them, and I will say to my soul:
My soul, you have plenty of good things laid by for many years to come;
take things easy, eat, drink, and have a good time"

But God said to him "Fool! This very night your earthly life will come to an end.
And all your possessions, who will get them?"

So it is when people store up treasure for themselves,
instead of making themselves rich in the sight of God

Jesus, please help me to be satisfied with what I have,
and not to be greedy
