Two Kings 2-3

The Lord revealed to Elisha and other prophets
that Elijah would be taken up to heaven in a whirlwind.

Elisha said to Elijah
"Let me inherit a double share of your spirit."

Then a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire,
and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.

The spirit of Elijah then came to rest on Elisha
and he began to do miracles by the power of the Lord.

Holy Spirit of God, please increase your influence in my life

Psalm 138

I thank you, Lord, with all my heart.
You have heard the words of my mouth.

With the angels I will bless you.
I will adore you in your holy temple.

I thank you for your faithfulness and love
which are far above what we can understand.

On the day I called you answered.
You increased the strength of my soul.

All earth's kings shall thank you
when they hear the words of your mouth.

They shall sing of the Lord's ways:
"How great is the glory of the Lord!"

Though I walk in the midst of affliction
you give me life and frustrate my foes.

Your love, O Lord, is eternal.
Do not abandon us whom you have made.

Lord, when we remember how much you love us and help us,
every day of the year is a Thanksgiving Day

1 Timothy 4

It's good to keep fit physically, and even more important to keep fit spiritually

We have put our trust in the living God.
He is the savior of the whole human race, especially of believers

Jesus, may I keep fit, physically and spiritually

Luke 15

Jesus told this story: a man had two sons. The younger said to his father
"Father, give me the share of the estate that would come to me"

So the father divided his property between them.
A few days later, the younger son and left for a distant land where he wasted his money in wild living

When he had used all his money, that country had a severe famine, and he began to feel the pinch,
so he got a job on a farm  feeding  pigs. He would willingly have eaten the pigs' food, but no one offered him anything

Then he came to his senses and said "How many of my father's paid servants have more food than they want, and I am dying of hunger.
I will leave this place and go to my father and say:
Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I no longer deserve to be
called your son. Treat me as one of your paid servants."
So he left the place and went back to his father

While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with pity. He ran to the boy, clasped him in his arms and kissed him tenderly. Then the son said "Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I no longer deserve to be called your son"

But the father said to his servants "Quick! Bring out the best robe and put it on him.
Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.
Bring the calf we have been fattening, and kill it. We are going to have a feast, a celebration,
because this son of mine was dead and has come back to life. He was lost and is found."

Jesus, please help me understand how much you love me,
no matter what  mistakes I make
