Two Kings 7-13

During Elisha's life time, there were many kings in Israel and Judah.

A number of these kings were assassinated.

Elisha also died and was buried in a tomb.

Once when a dead man was put in Elisha's tomb,
the man came back to life

Dear God, please help us love you the way Elisha loved you

Psalm 145

I will give you glory, O God my king.
I will bless your name day after day.

The Lord is great, worthy of all praise.
His greatness cannot be measured.

Age to age shall proclaim your works,
shall speak of your splendor and glory.

The Lord is kind and full of compassion,
slow to anger, abounding in love.

How good is the Lord to all,
compassionate to all his creatures.

All your creatures shall thank you, O Lord,
and tell all the world of your love.

The Lord is faithful in all his words
and loving in all his deeds.

The Lord supports all who fall
and raises all who are bowed down.

The eyes of all creatures look to you
and you give them their food each day.

The Lord is close to all who call him,
who call on him from their hearts.

Let the whole world bless the Lord's holy name,
for ever, for ages unending.

Thank you, Lord, for your love. Thank you for your love

1 Timothy 6

Some people, because of ignorance and pride,
have a craze for questioning and arguing about everything

Such a craze breeds jealousy and mistrust and unending disputes

People who have a craving to be wealthy are a prey to temptation.
They get trapped into all sorts of foolish and dangerous schemes which ruin their lives

The love of money is the root of all evils. It can cause people to leave the faith

Jesus, help me be content with a simple lifestyle

Luke 18

Some people prided themselves on being virtuous, and despised others. Jesus told them this story:

Two men went to the Temple to pray, one a religious leader, the other a social outcast

The leader stood there and said "I thank you, God, that I am not greedy, unjust and adulterous like other people such as this outcast here"

The outcast did not even raise his eyes, but beat his breast and said "God, be merciful to me, a sinner"

The outcast, I tell you, went home a friend of God. The leader did not.
People who exalt themselves will be humbled. People who humble themselves will be exalted

Jesus, be merciful to me, a sinner
