O Holy Spirit, please guide me as I read these passages for today. 
May these passages give me hope, strength, wisdom, courage and peace for my daily life 

Before the Jews  left Babylon,
Ezra had organized them to pray and fast for a safe journey.

When the Jews reached Jerusalem,
Ezra dissolved any marriages that had been arranged with foreign women  while the Jews were in Babylon.

Dear God, please help us to remember to pray for safety 
each time we set out on a journey

Have mercy on me, Lord, I have no strength.
My body is racked with pain. Please heal me, Lord.

I am exhausted with my groaning.
Every night  my pillow is covered  with tears.

Lord, please hear my prayer.

Dear Lord, please help people
 who are in distress of mind or body

As for me, my life of service to the Lord is nearly over.
I have fought the good fight to the end.
I have run the race to the finish. I have kept the faith

The Lord will soon give me the best of all prizes: eternal life in heaven. 
He will give it not only to me, but to everyone who has loved him sincerely in this life

Jesus, help me keep running to the finish line

Big crowds were in Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover which was only a few days away.
The religious leaders were afraid that the crowds would prevent them from killing Jesus

But then Satan entered into Judas Iscariot who was one of the 12 apostles.
Judas went to the leaders to plan how to capture Jesus.
The leaders agreed to give Judas some money for his help

Judas then began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus at a time when there were no crowds around

Jesus, please protect me from Satan's influence,
and from any sort of pride that might make me want to abandon your friendship
