Judith 1

When Nebuchadnezzar was king of the Assyrians,
he fought a war with King Arphaxad and his supporting nations.

Nebuchadnezzar sent a message to the nations near Assyria
to help him fight Arphaxad.

But the peoples of those places ignored Nebuchadnezzar.
They thought victory was beyond him.

But Nebuchadnezzar was in fact victorious
and after his victory he set out to punish the nations which
had refused his call for help.

Dear God, please help all nations to live in peace with each other

Psalm 32

Happy is the person whose sin is forgiven.

For a while I refused to ask for forgiveness,
and my body paid the penalty.

But then I said "Lord, forgive me"
and my spirit and body revived.

Lord, when I do wrong,
please give me the grace to say sorry and ask forgiveness

Hebrews 10

Remember all the suffering you experienced after you became  Christians
- the insults and violence, the loss of your possessions

Don't give up now. Keep going in your Christian life.

You and I are not the sort of people who give up.
We are the sort of people who stay faithful until our souls are saved

Jesus, help me keep going, despite difficulties

Luke 24

The disciples were still talking about what had happened when suddenly Jesus himself stood among them. At first they were terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost

But he said "Look at my hands and feet. Yes, it is I indeed. Touch me and see for yourselves. A ghost has no flesh and bones as you can see I have"

Their fear turned to joy but they still couldn't believe what they were seeing. So he asked them for something to eat, and they gave him some grilled fish which he ate in front of them

Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and he said "So you see how it is written that the Christ would suffer, and on the third day rise from the dead. And that in his name repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be preached to all the nations

Soon I will send down to you what the Father promised (the Holy Spirit).  Stay in Jerusalem until you are clothed with this power from on high"

Jesus,  increase my faith in your resurrection,
and open my mind to  understand the Bible better
