O Holy Spirit, please guide me as I read these passages for today. 
May these passages give me hope, strength, wisdom, compassion, courage and peace for my daily life 

Judith put on her most beautiful clothes and jewelry.
Then she and her maid headed for the Assyrian camp.

She told the Assyrian soldiers that she was fleeing from Bethulia since it would soon be attacked.

She said she wanted to give Holofernes some important information.

The soldiers took her to meet Holofernes.

Dear God, please give us the courage of Judith

Like a deer that longs for running streams,
so my soul is longing for you, my God.

My soul is thirsting for you, the God of my life.
I think of you all the time, here in my land of exile.

People make fun of us here in exile.
They  taunt us saying "Where is your God?"

Yet no matter what happens we will hope in you,
for you are our saviour and our God.

No matter where we are or what happens to us,
our hearts will long for  you, like a bride longing for her groom.

Lord, no matter what happens, may I always hope in you

Don't try to combine faith in Jesus Christ, our glorified Lord,
with the making of distinctions between classes of people

Suppose two men come into your prayer meeting, one beautifully dressed and with a gold ring;
the other poor and in shabby clothes

If you welcome the rich man, and look down on the poor man, you are making a big mistake

It was those who are poor according to the world that God chose to be rich in faith

So, never make distinctions between classes of people.
Everyone is your neighbor. Love your neighbor as yourself

There will be judgment without mercy for people who have not been merciful. 
But merciful people need have no fear of judgment

Jesus, help me treat everyone equally and fairly. No favorites

A religious leader said to Jesus "you are a teacher who comes from God,
for no one could perform the signs that you do unless God were with him"

Jesus replied "Unless you are born through water and the Spirit,
you cannot enter God's kingdom"

Jesus, please help more people be baptized through water and the Spirit
