  Yesterday's Answers

It was good to see a response last week both in your print edition and on the Tablet’s website to the comments made by Professor Tracey Rowland at the recent symposium held at Leeds Trinity University College (News from Britain and Ireland, 30 June).

More and more we are hearing voices that wish to solve today’s problems with yesterday’s solutions and in the process be critical of those whose vision has brought us through difficult years.

The criticism of Schillebeeckx and others cannot, and must not, be allowed to go unanswered. Somehow we must find a way to talk, to examine the issues that face us with charity and compassion, and not heap scorn on those whose life work has been at the service of our Church.
