2013-02-03     Darlene's Background

My name is Darlene Starrs and I am currently a resident of Edmonton , Alberta , Canada , where I was born and raised.  I am now of the age whereby I could be a grandmother, but I am a woman who devoted her life to Jesus Christ alone and I have hopefully served the Lord in every place that he has sent me, though, I have never lived beyond the borders of Alberta.  I am from a very small family unit and I come from an Irish/Ukrainian heritage.

My mother was of an Ukrainian background and my father was of an Irish background.

I most sincerely resonate with the Irish heritage, culture and spirituality.  In fact, so much so,  that it is my desire to live and do Church ministry in Ireland .  Being raised in the capital city of Alberta , I went to Catholic School and I attended University, where I obtained a degree in Education.  I taught primary school for a few years and then I left to answer, what I would call, my “essential vocation”, a vocation that was authored by the Lord.  I left teaching 28 years ago.  Most of my contemporaries are now retiring, and I am about to venture on the next part of my missionary life.  The Lord has filled my “satchel” with much life experience, ministerial activities, and theological education.

I was asked to blog on v2Catholic by Father John Wotherspoon and I am pleased to do so.

Interestingly, I am always calling myself  "a Vatican II Catholic”, so I hope I’m right where I belong, offering what the Lord would have me speak about.
