The Parable of the Printer

About three years ago I bought a Canon MP250 printer-scanner-photo copier. It cost under HK$300. It has given great service. I don't use color ink, just a large bottle of "economical" black ink that lasts for more than six months

Not long ago the printer "got sick" and I couldn't solve the problem. Scanning was still perfect, but the machine would not print anything. I kept getting a blank sheet of paper, or just a few marks on a piece of paper

I repeatedly tried using the machine's own cleaning program. I tried all sorts of information from the internet. I made a special trip to a computer shop asking advice. Nothing helped

My brain said to get a new machine, cheaper than trying to fix the old one. 
But my heart said "keep trying to fix it ...give it one more chance". 

So I decided on one last shot: I made another special trip to the computer centre and  bought a new printer cartridge, costing almost half the price of a new printer. Bit of a risk but ....

And the printer then worked again. It was as good as new. Crystal-clear printing

I was so happy that my faithful machine was ok again. I also reflected how close I had come to unnecessarily disposing of Brother Printer

I guess that's the way the Good Lord deals with us. He tries every possible plan to keep us "working", to fix us after a time of "brokenness"

It's just not in his plan to "throw us out"

And when we are fixed, no one is happier than Himself
