Dear Friends
Last Wednesday night I
went as usual to Tung Wah Hospital
to visit several dear friends with Lou
Gehrig's Disease (ALS, MND)
From the point of view of praying for healing,
a thought came "You're wasting your time. No healing is possible".
This was countered by another thought
"I was sick and you visited Me".
So I actually said to one of the patients on Wednesday night
"When I am visiting you, I am visiting Jesus,
because Jesus said when we visit the sick, we visit Him".
....followed by a beautiful smile on the patient's face....
With a further thought:
the sicker people are,
the more hopeless they are,
the more priority we should give to visiting them
May Church groups throughout the world,
comprising all the different denominations,
make sure that in their local area,
every sick person in a local hospital or nursing home
has a visitor ....every day.
Preferably someone from their family,
otherwise someone else
Has my parish council ever had this item on its agenda?
An ideal opportunity for ecumenism ...churches working
together...
no need for competition/overlapping....just make sure every Jesus is visited
What a great cross it is for people lying sick in hospital or
a nursing home
to have no visitors, yet see other patients getting visitors each day
Can I spare a hour or so each week
to visit someone in a hospital or a nursing home?
Most hospitals and nursing homes have volunteer visitor programs....
A final thought:
the older I get, the more visiting the sick/prisoners makes
sense,
in fact has more meaning that most other things I do
On this 9th of the month,
Jesus please bless
the people of Jianxi
(Please join me in praying for one
part of China each day of the month)
My Bible Plan for today = readings for Friday of Easter Week
Thank you for a prayer
God bless!
