Dear Friends
Recently there's been a most interesting
series of articles on Catholica
about the history of Catholic education in Australia.
A current article outlines the crisis
time of the 1960's and 1970's.
One of the articles mentions how Rome has always regarded
the Australian Catholic education system as one of the best in the world.
I thought of this yesterday as I went to Our
Lady's Primary School in Wong Tai Sin
....and I thought to myself....the Catholic education system in Hong Kong is
also very, very good.
317 schools and kindergartens care for more than 200,000 students (in a total HK
population of about 7,000,000).
Only a tiny percentage of the 200,000 are Catholics....but just as
elsewhere....parents are keen to have their children attend a church-run school
Not an easy job being a teacher these days
....may the Good Lord bless all schools, teachers & other staff, students
and families!
