Dear Friends

For breakfast each morning I have an apple, an orange,
and a bowl of instant oats with New Zealand hi-calcium milk

Yesterday during breakfast I watched and listened to
a short TV talk by Fr Frank Moloney:
When Catholics dropped the Bible

One point Fr Frank made was that the Council of Trent (1545 - 1563)
got Catholics to trust the hierarchy rather than the Bible.

The same move is on again today by the "reform of the reform" people
who want Catholics to trust the hierarchy (read "the Vatican")
more than the Bible, more than conscience etc

This was the problem of the Scribes and Pharisees in Jesus' time:
they put their own teaching, their own "traditions",
above the love and law of God

Same is true of certain organizations where "the handbook", "the rules"
are more important than the Bible, practical charity towards others etc

All things being equal of course, the hierarchy and the Bible and our conscience etc
should all be playing the same music

But just as the Scribes and Pharisees were out of tune,
so at the present time we are going through a time of disharmony
