Dear Friends

Four items from yesterday:

1. In the afternoon English class I had at a local primary school, one of the primary one girls needed to go to the toilet.
While she was gone, another primary one girl showed initiative by filling in the absent girl's sheet as we continued
our word game. The girl with initiative is a bit of a Jack, I mean Jill-in-the-box, and up to now I had not thought of her in the greatest terms. But yesterday her action of kindness stopped me in my tracks. After 40 years of teaching, I'm still learning about human nature

2. After the class I met former fellow teacher-in-China Peter Barry....two of whose sons are pilots, who specialise in saving
hotel items (toothbrushes, combs, toothpaste, shower lotion, soap etc) for me to give to the local street people of the Jordan/Yau Ma Tei area. Thank you Peter, Simon and Anthony

3. Last night I went to a local Christian (Evangelical) book store to pick up Bibles for detention centre inmates. A regular chore.
The store owner put a very generous (& totally unexpected) donation in my hand and said "my wife and I know what you are doing. We are not free to visit the prisons. You are our representative". A "non-Catholic" couple  helping a Catholic priest..... Thank you Chris and Helena. I responded by immediately using up the donation to buy more Bibles and other books for the inmates!

4. Yesterday my dear brother Peter on the Gold Coast in Australia sent me a fascinating historical article about World War Two and the Battle of Tobruk, where our Dad was a "Rat of Tobruk".....in the Queensland 2/15 Battalion, whose history has been revised according to this Anzac Day article in the Brisbane Courier Mail

On this 27th of the month, Jesus please bless the people of Tibet
(Please join me in praying for one part of China each day of the month)

My  Bible Plan for today = Please join me in using these readings for courage and energy

Thank you for a prayer

God bless!
