Dear Friends
Some good news when I visited a detention
centre yesterday:
a handicapped beggar from the Mainland (China) is due to be released in a few
weeks.
He was smiling when he told me
yesterday.
The first time I've seen him smile.
He went to court last week, May 2, when I was
on annual retreat.
At the retreat on the morning of May 2, I asked the
retreat group to pray for him
A couple of weeks ago he was told by his lawyer
he would probably be in prison for another two years
That's when I wrote this letter
I don't usually write letters of appeal.
But his was a very special case
