Dear Friends
Today is the Feast of Saint
Eugene de Mazenod (1782-1861),
founder of the Oblates of Mary Immculate (O.M.I.)
When Eugene was a young priest
in the chaotic days of post-revolution France,
he nearly died from visiting prisons
Which is why the Oblates have always had a
special concern
for prison visitation
Which is why I'm now spending 6 days a week
(most of them half-days)
visiting prisons and detention centers in Hong Kong
Which is why I was happy to help with a
Mass last Saturday
for a special group of people who have been visiting
a not-easy-to-reach prison for the past ten years
St Eugene de Mazenod, pray for us!
