Dear Friends
Recently
I heard of a chapel in Hong Kong where the priest-in-charge
has been required to resign
...because he has turned 85 years old.
As in most places, priests in HK must offer their resignation at 75,
but then may continue in office at the bishop's discretion until 85.
At 85 they may not hold any diocesan office or responsibility.
They may keep working in a helping/advisory capacity,
but may not be in charge.
Made me think:
85 is too old to be in charge of a small chapel,
but it's ok to be pope in charge of the whole Church
(...Benedict XVI recently turned 85)
c.f. Why pope should retire and Pope will retire?

On this
26th of the month,
Jesus please bless
the people of Xinjiang
(Please join me in praying for one
part of China each day of the month)
My Bible Plan for today = readings for vigil of Pentecost. Come Holy Spirit!
Thank you for a prayer
God bless!
