Dear Friends

Yesterday (the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ)
at the monthly prayer meeting to pray for sick people,
I asked a few of the early arrivals if their parish had Communion from the chalice.

I was surprised and saddened to hear that several more parishes no longer have
Communion from the chalice (which, in HK, means by intinction, not by drinking from the chalice).
I now know of at least five HK parishes that have stopped having Communion from the chalice

I was thinking: an old rule was - "a parish should follow the cathedral".
Communion under both kinds is at every Mass in the cathedral (...they do give a good example...),
therefore in theory every parish should have Communion under both kinds.

Then I thought: the cathedral should follow the Vatican
....but...groan....the Vatican for two years or more (at least at the pope's Masses)
has banned Communion under both kinds  (see yesterday's blog)

c.f. excellent article on today's menu: The Body and Blood of Christ

What a confusing situation.
What a sad situation.
The poor people....

Jesus, please clean up this mess!

Today's English editorial in the Ming Pao newspaper (HK),
"Li Wangyang's mysterious death must be looked into" (June 11)
and my recording of same,
can be accessed here  from midday HK time June 11 to mid-evening HK time June 11

On this 11th of the month, Jesus please bless the people of Hunan
(Please join me in praying for one part of China each day of the month)

My Bible Plan for today = Readings for feast of St Barnabas, who was noted for the way
he could give encouragement to people....even difficult people like St Paul!

Thank you for a prayer

God bless!
