Dear Friends
Luke's
Gospel says that John the Baptist was born about 6 months before Jesus,
so we celebrate John's birthday today, 6 months before Christmas
The
birth of any baby is a time of great joy, but John's birth was especially happy
since his mother was "unable to have a baby"
Luke
says that 6 month old John jumped in his mother Elizabeth's womb
when Mary and just-conceived Jesus in her womb visited Elizabeth
John "recognised" Jesus....and went on to prepare a way for Jesus
May
we also recognise Jesus more clearly, more often,
especially in the Scriptures and in the poor
Then we too will experience something of John's joy
My
personal effort: I've been trying, when visiting prisoners and the sick,
to remember that I'm actually visiting Jesus.
When I put my hand on their head or shoulder for a prayer,
I try to remember I'm actually "touching" Jesus,
and I say in my heart/mind "The Body of Christ"
and answer "Amen"!

On this
24th of the month,
Jesus please bless
the people of Inner Mongolia
(Please join me in praying for one
part of China each day of the month)
My Bible Plan for today = The readings for the Birth of John the Baptist
Thank you for a prayer
God bless!
