Dear Friends

Yesterday afternoon was spent as usual at Lai Chi Kok Detention Centre

Yesterday morning was spent at Queen Elizabeth Hospital....the largest in HK...
1,800 beds....but no priests available....both chaplains overseas...no replacements

As I went with one of the pastoral team, a lady,  to a list of people waiting for the Anointing of the Sick,
I was thinking how strange it is that this pastoral worker may baptise (in case of danger) and may give out
Holy Communion, but may not put oil on a sick person's forehead and palms

"Strange" is not a strong enough term. Law needs to change, just as it changed to allow lay people to
take Communion to the sick

If the Church continues the trend from stopping lay people doing things, and relies on the priest to
do everything, less and less is going to get done as priests become fewer and fewer
