Dear Friends
Most
news these days is bad news or sensational news
Which might make us think that the bad guys are defeating the good guys
Let's often remind ourselves: there's a lot more good than evil in the world
Think of the unmeasurable love around the world shown by family members to each other
Think of the millions of people who lovingly look after the ill and aged, in their own homes or in hospitals and special centres
Think of the millions of people around the world who dedicate themselves to humanitarian and social work
Think of the millions of people around the world who regularly do volunteer work
e.g.
Yesterday on the MTR (Metro) on my way home from Mass at Lo Wu prison, I met a dear old friend who used to be a top manager of a HK ferry company. We hadn't seen each other for several years. Where had he spent the afternoon? At a centre for disabled people - blind, deaf, paralysed etc. He said he was one of 84 people who shared a simple lunch and then spent their time together for the afternoon. This won't be on front page of tomorrow's newspapers....but stories like this far far outnumber what "the bad guys" are doing.
Let's try to notice more often the good that is happening around us!
