Kong these days reminds me of Tiananmen Square in 1989:
as the days and weeks went on, the number of protestors kept growing
Last Friday night, another huge crowd joined the hunger strikers outside the government headquarters - protesting about the introduction into schools of a new subject called "National Education" (see other items on menu of this website)
No doubt the recently installed new HK administration is taking orders from Beijing on this issue....but not so simple: Beijing leadership is in transition. Possibly HK is even getting mixed signals from Beijing
Surely
the admin has to back down. It is showing signs of giving in.
The sooner the better
One thing for sure: HK people are on their toes, on their guard, ready to stand up for HK's traditional values.... with tertiary students giving a courageous lead, as happened in 1989 in Beijing
