Dear Friends

Last Sunday in many cities of China there were anti-Japanese protests.
HK TV news on Sunday night showed long footage...especially of the violent protest in Shenzhen (across border from HK)

Headline in yesterday's South China Morning Post hit nail on head:
such protests, which are orchestrated/official, might well backfire
....protesters clashing with police might be repeated for local issues

Yesterday's HK papers had front page photos of the Shenzhen protests.
But yesterday's "China Daily" (a Beijing paper) only had front page photo of protest in HK (a peaceful march). No photo (that I saw) of Shenzhen protests. Don't want to give people the idea that protests happen in China

YouTube video of Shenzhen vioence

c.f. this Mainland website report - no photos, and no mention of Shenzhen  (just a photo of protesting Muslims!)

c.f.r. this report - queries the spontaneity of the protests
