Dear Friends
Last Saturday night as I enjoyed my usual walk from Notre Dame in Kowloon City to my home in Jordan, I came across a middle-aged black man sleeping in a subway opposite Queen Elizabeth hospital
Man is from the Bahamas in Central America...been in HK many years...has fallen on hard times
I took him to my home, via McDonalds....then to Chung King Mansion ("no room in inn" unless you pay US$100 per night)....and eventually to Mother Teresa's Home of Love in Sham Shui Po
If I ever win the Mark Six Lottery, I'll give most of it to the Sisters of Charity....
...so
that they can expand their facilities for homeless people...
...like the ones I saw last night at our weekly gathering for ex-inmates.
Out of some 50 who attended, 8 (including 2 women) said they are "sleeping
in the park"
