Dear Friends

This week in China is one of two annual "Golden Weeks"

Each day this week some 400 tour groups from China will arrive in Hong Kong ....that's 2,800 groups in all....with most groups having 30 or more members

Last year during the October Golden Week, more than 100,000 Mainland tourists entered HK each day

Last year HK received 28,000,000 Mainland visitors...not a few of them coming more than once.  That's more 2,000,000 per month

Good point:  great for HK's economy

Bad point: HK people are starting to complain about "too many visitors"

Ugly point: Mainland people and HK people are starting to re-act to each other in a not-very-nice-way  (see comments in this link!)

On this 2nd of the month, Jesus please bless the people of Fujian
(Please join me in praying for one part of China each day of the month)

My Bible Plan for today = Please join me in using these readings to help us remember we do not have a lasting city, much last a lasting bank, in this world!  (despite the fact the name of one HK bank "Hang Seng" means "lasting life"!)

My home parish when I was a boy was Guardian Angels in Brisbane.
So, how can I not mention that today is the Feast of our Guardian Angels? ... and recommend the daily prayer I've said each morning and night for 50 or so years:

Angel of God, my guardian dear,
to whom God's love commits me here.
Ever this day (night) be at my side
to light and guard, to rule and guide

God bless!
