Dear Friends
The present sex abuse issue in Australia, and in so many other parts of the world, makes this a sad time: sad for the victims, sad for the Church, sad for society
With the announcement of a royal commission in Australia, this story will swamp all other stories for a long while to come
Part of the drama is the fact that only government action, media action, is able to produce Church action. As in the case of Boston, only government and media pressure finally extracted a sore tooth called Cardinal Law
