Dear Friends
Yesterday
at a weekly prayer service with some inmates,
we used the readings of tomorrow, the
Feast of Christ the King
and noticed:
- only when Jesus was a prisoner
before Pilate did he openly say he was a king.....only when his kingship would
not be misunderstood as an earthly kingship trying to overthrow the Romans
- a week before going on trial, Jesus said he identifies with people in prison...and we'll be judged according to whether we visited them or not
- the charge against him was not "trafficking in dangerous drugs" or "possessing DD" or "theft" or "murder" but "the king of the Jews"
- one of the two prisoners crucified with him made the perfect prayer for tomorrow, and especially for all in prison: Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom (YouTube)
